Pickle 4 Pets is a community-driven pickleball fundraiser benefiting the Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch, a no-kill animal rescue and shelter. It’s not just a fundraiser—it’s a mission to help local animals find forever homes.
2. How did Pickle 4 Pets start?
Country Club East resident and pickleball player Bob Kichler had an idea to combine his love for pickleball with a good cause. With support from Jimmy Royalty, who was the director of Pickleball at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, and connections to the Humane Society through Debbie Rubin and Cheryl Johnson, the idea officially launched in June 2022. After a brief delay due to court construction, the inaugural event was held in November 2023.

- Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Location: The Lodge @ Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club

4. Who can participate?
The event is open to the entire Lakewood Ranch community and beyond! Whether you're playing or just enjoying the festivities, everyone is welcome.
5. What’s the entry fee?
- $75 per player
- Additional donations are greatly appreciated.
6. How do I register?
Register HERE and pay online at by October 28.
7. What kind of tournament is it?
- Same-sex doubles play
- Limited to 250 players
- Players will receive a gift at registration
- Match times and draws announced closer to event day
- Gold medalists receive awards
8. What is the ProAm Tournament?
Players can bid for a chance to partner with local Pickleball pros—an exciting way to level up your game and have fun!
9. What other activities will be available?
- Food trucks
- Italian ice stand
- “Million Dollar” Corn Hole Game (prizes: FL Lottery scratch-offs)
- 50/50 raffle (proceeds go to the Humane Society)
10. Should I bring anything?
Yes, bring cash for the food trucks, raffle, and other fun activities!
Also recommended to bring a chair as seating is limited
11. Who benefits from this fundraiser?
All proceeds go to the Humane Society at Lakewood Ranch, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that rescues, shelters, and finds homes for 250–300 animals per year, all from the local community.
12. How is the Humane Society funded?
It is entirely funded by donations, grants, adoption fees, and events like this. Every dollar makes a difference.
